Providing Direct International Relief through volunteers

Our Organization

Our organization was started in 1994 by Johnny Garrison a former missionary and relief worker of 20 years.  He and his family served in these capacities in a variety of African countries.  Upon his return to the United States, he started International Relief Services to assist missionaries and aid workers with necessary materials and supplies to accomplish their tasks.

Since its inception, International Relief has sent shipments of medical supplies, educational materials, food and other essentials to such places as Palawan Island, Philipines; Mexico City, Mexico; Lagos, Nigeria; Beua, Cameroon, and others.  With the supplies in these shipments two clinics have been equipped with furnishings and medical supplies providing assistance to entire villages that lacked proper medical facilities.

Our Directors

Johnny Garrison

In 1977 Johnny took his wife Peggy and their two children Candice and Andrew to Liberia, West Africa to begin their mission work as interns.  At the completion of their internship they transfered to Nigera, West Africa where they were to spend the next 20 years.

During this time he oversaw the mission expantion into the neighboring country of Cameroon.  While serving in Nigeria, two training institutions were started as well as a large number of relief projects that provided training and development to the local people.

In Cameroon supplies were provided to equip a clinic in a remote village as well as an additional training institution.  All of this was made possible by generous sponsors and donors back at home.

Coordinating the transfer of much needed supplies and equipment from the United States to Nigeria proved to be a daunting task that consumed countless hours and a lot of financial loss.  This became one of the greatest obstacles that he faced while doing the mission and relief work in these countries.

When he retired from foreign service he came back to America with the desire to assist other missionaries and aid workers in trying to ease this burden.  This was the birth of International Relief Services.  In 1994 the process of developing a medium to provide this service began.  Johnny and Peggy now live in Marion, Indiana and continue to travel internationally to continually promote the vision of International Relief Service as President and Founder.
